Mayfair Pet Rules
As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable living environment for all residents, we kindly request your cooperation in practicing responsible pet ownership within the Mayfair Community.
Dog Waste Cleanup:
Pet waste is a growing concern within the Mayfair Community. Not only is pet waste unsightly and unpleasant, but it also poses significant health risks to both pets and humans. When left on sidewalks, streets, or grassy areas, pet waste can be washed into nearby water bodies during rain, contaminating the water and affecting the environment.
We implore all pet owners to be responsible and promptly clean up after their pets. Let's follow these simple steps:
1. Bring a bag (or use one of the bags provided at the 5 doggy stations throughout the Mayfair Community).
2. Use the bag to pick up your pet's waste.
3. Dispose of the bag properly in the trash receptacles - not in the storm drains!
It's important to note that picking up after your pets is not only a matter of community pride but also a legal requirement. Codified ordinances of Loudoun County, Chapter 612.19, Section a (9), state that it is unlawful for the owner of any dog to fail to remove immediately the dog's feces from any property.
Leash Regulations in Loudoun County:
To ensure the safety of both pets and community members, all dogs are required to be leashed when outside, except when on the owner's property, in a designated space such as a fenced dog park, or while participating in a formal obedience training class. This rule also applies to service animals, which must remain under the handler's control at all times.
For more information about Loudoun's animal-related laws, please refer to the Loudoun County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 612.13 under Running At Large.
Enforcement:
We would like to encourage residents to report any violations or concerns related to animals through the Loudoun County's Report a Concern to Animal Control Website. If you come across issues such as Feces Removal, Animal Welfare Concerns, Nuisance Domestic Animal, Dog running at large (non-current), Stray aggressive animal (non-current), or Barking Dogs, you can make reports through the Loudoun County website.

By adhering to these laws, we not only promote a positive and enjoyable living experience for everyone but also create a safer environment for our pets, children, and fellow residents.
Let us work together to make our community a welcoming, safe, and respectful place for all residents, whether they have two legs or four.
